2 Thessalonians 1:6 “God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you *(1:7)* and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.”
Troublers refers to those who cause trouble to others. Troublers initiate trouble. Troublees are recipients of trouble from Troublers. Troublees are victims. God has a message to both Troublers and Troublees in today’s text.
To those who trouble God’s people, either directly or indirectly… God has promised you a taste of your own medicine. God is just and unless you repent…you will experience the undiluted taste of the trouble you have been dispensing. Are you hard on people for no reason? Are you sadistic? Do you thrive when others fear you and fear your words and actions? Do you get a psychological boost in having silenced others with your Sharp tongue? Do you fully exploit the leverage you have against others? Do you hold a distinction in black mail? Are broken hearts a heritage of your life? God is just, and very soon you will have a taste of your own medicine!
God is just, He will give relief to the troubled. Guaranteed relief is coming. Dear troubled soul, don’t collapse – hold on! Relief is coming. Relief from people. Relief from bad dreams. Relief from sickness. Relief from poverty. Relief from people who have directly or indirectly imprisoned you. Relief from source of your pain. Relief from shame and embarrassment and rejection. Relief from consistent failure. Relief from difficult situations. Relief from anything, everything and everyone who has troubled you. God is just, He will give relief to all of us who are troubled – therefore hold on, relief cometh!
Troublers should repent and be saved from coming punishment. Troublees should forgive Troublers it is their Christian duty. Forgiving Troublers doesn’t bar God from punishing them. Forgiving Troublers allows Troublees to move on. It is in their own best interest for Troublees to forgive Troublers.
Troublers and Troublees take note and have a good day in Jesus name. Amen!
