To Him Who Is Able 2

Jude 1:24 “To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy– (1:25) to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

Jude writes this letter to a church facing so many challenges that threaten faith. People may fall because of lies. People may fall because of false teachings. People may fall because of persecution and death. Jude wishes he could help but he is far. He thinks of the local church leaders and they can’t help in the face of terror. He wonders who will keep the church from falling?

Falling is losing faith. Falling is suffering. Falling is death. Falling is the biggest threat. Who will keep them from falling?

Jude the apostle can’t keep them from falling. Local leaders can’t keep them from falling. By themselves, they can’t keep themselves from falling. But Jude ends his epistle by telling them that there is God who can keep them from falling. To Him who is able to keep you from falling!

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (3:21) to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine in order keep us from falling because He is the Saviour, He has majesty, power and authority. He has all it takes to keep us from falling! But that ability to keep us from falling works within us not without. It therefore is necessary to have a relationship with God. Accept His word, salvation and demands..then that power will work in us. The good news is that the power works forever and ever, Amen! He will be able to keep us from falling forever and ever, Amen!

Proverbs 24:16 “for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity.” God is able to keep us from falling… and when peradventure we fall…God enables us to rise…A believer will never fall and remain down. Never! God who is able to keep us from falling…is able to raise us up, whenever He allows us to fall. That is why the prayer is to Him who is able!

Matthew 10:29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.” All falls must be approved by God. Nothing human or non-human falls without divine approval. That simply means, in spite of our world being evil infested, God remains in charge, in control and has the final word on what happens. Many times we fall because we reject God and deny Him opportunity to keep us from falling. When we belong to God and relate well with Him, He will keep us from falling, and if we fall, we won’t remain down, He will raise us up for all the times we fall. That is why the prayer is, to Him who is able!

Are you threatened with falling? Falling of your faith? Falling into failure? Falling into loneliness? Falling into desperation? Falling into losses? Falling out of favour with those whose favour you need? Falling into traps set by your haters? Falling into predictions made by those who wish you ill? What falling are you facing? There is a Saviour God who has majesty, authority and power enough to keep you from falling even today and the text states that with Him it’s not just today, He is able to keep us from falling now and forevermore! Amen!

May you and me who are threatened with varied types of falling…turn now, today and forevermore …to Him who is able to keep us from falling. May He keep us from all types of fall…in Jesus name. Amen!
