Reconciliation With Nature, Environment, Circumstances and Situations 1

Reconciliation With Nature, Environment, Circumstances and Situations

Hosea 2:18 “In that day _(When Israel repents and God forgives them)_ I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.” NOTE: The words in brackets are mine, added for clarity and connection with previous text and whole passage.

Hosea 2:18 “And I will agree to let you live in peace–you will no longer be attacked by wild animals and birds or by weapons of war.” (Contemporary English Version)

Hosea 2:18 “At that time I will make a covenant with all the wild animals and birds, so that they will not harm my people. I will also remove all weapons of war from the land, all swords and bows, and will let my people live in peace and safety.” (Good News Translation)

God makes a promise to Israelites that if they confess their sins and repent, then God will restore their safety and peace. Because of their sins, nature refused to cooperate with them and instead worked against them. Animals in the wild successfully attacked, injured and even killed. Birds of the air damaged their crops. Insects and other pests ravaged the land. No deterrent measures worked because of sin.

Enemy sword and ensuing battles were severely destructive. No security measures or defense mechanism worked, because of sin. The nature, environment, circumstances and situations worked against Israelites. Sin causes conflict between us and God, and as a result what should work in our favor ends up defying us and destroying us.

Nature, environment, circumstances and situations that defy us because of our sins, can only listen to God. Nature, environment, circumstances and situations, will only cooperate with us if we have a right relationship with God. No amount of working hard, manipulation, technology, exploration and exploitation will force them to work in our favor, if we are living contrary to God’s will. That is why upon our repentance, God will reconcile us with nature, environment, circumstances and situations.

Matthew 8:25 “The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
(8:26) He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.”
(8:27) The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

At the threat of drowning, the disciples called on Jesus for help. Jesus woke up and asked the storm, winds, and waves at sea to be calm. Immediately, it was calm. They were shocked to discover that even inanimate things like storms, winds and waves of the sea can listen and obey God’s voice. Only God can order nature, environment, circumstances and situations to work in our favor.

The frustrations of our efforts and the impotence of our working hard has direct relationship to our relationship with God. Our relationship with God does not and will not replace our need to work hard. Our relationship with God ensures that while we work hard, nature, environment, circumstances and situations, are all in our favor. We need this reconciliation or else we will perish doing our best without any success.

God has power over all nature, environment, circumstances and situations. He can cause people to favor us who would otherwise not favor us. Exodus 12:36 “The LORD had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians.” God made Egyptians against their natural wish, to love Israelites and give them whatever Israelites wanted. Only God can make someone who wouldn’t love and favor you, to do that. But you will still need to go and ask for help as Israelites did. God has power even over people’s feelings and thoughts towards us!

God has power over all nature, environment, circumstances and situations. He can cause business forces of supply and demand to favor our investment. God can cause our work at places where we are employed to stand out. God can cause our ability to learn to supersede all others in school and we come out the best. God can cause people to love us and even end up in marriage. God can cause marriage to hold on, where it would have long collapsed.

Our greatest need today is a proper relationship with God. That relationship will be the basis in which God promised Israelites and still promises us today, that He will reconcile us with nature, environment, circumstances and situations. We need this reconciliation today.

How is your life today? Your working hard will only bear fruit if forces around you cooperate. Do you need reconciliation with learning ability? Reconciliation with market forces? Reconciliation with the dating scene and marriage platform? Reconciliation with people’s perceptions of you? Reconciliation with agricultural productivity? Reconciliation with frequent illnesses and bad luck? Reconciliation with blunders, stress, failure and frequent frustrations? Reconciliation with insomnia? Reconciliation with over sleeping? Reconciliation with laziness and procrastination that has refused to set you free?

God promises that, in that day when we fully repent and return to Him as our God, He will reconcile us to everything around us. God will reconcile us to nature, environment, circumstances and situations. May that day be today, in Jesus name. Amen! (C)rkesis@gmail.com (do not delete any part of this post, including this.
