Psalm 35:1 “Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. *(35:2)* Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid. *(35:3)* Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.””
Our Chief enemy is the devil. The devil fights us left, right and center. Many times he doesn’t confront us himself…in the garden of Eden he used the serpent. In Job’s case he used people, nature, disease and his wife. In Jesus’ time he used religious leaders. During the early church he used the government.
Therefore every other day we contend with the devil through his agents. His agents could be events, occurrences, family, people and even demonic forces. But sometimes we get overwhelmed by satanic attacks and activities of his agents. We get tired and we just can’t take it anymore….
David got tired! He fought and won in one battle front but two others begun. He fought external forces and he even fought his own son Absalom. Things can bee too much for one person. You get to a point where it is not fair that one person handles all these…
At that point of frustration and almost resignation…. David prays to God…please God, fight for me! Please God, come to my aid! Please God, remind me that you are my salvation…
I don’t know how much heat the devil and his agents have turned on you. But before you give up…before you quit…before you give in to fate…before you yield to temptation to try crime, witchcraft and other faiths…before you act careless and cause more damage…before you commit suicide…before you revenge…before you act stupid…please pray this prayer of David and let God fight for you!
Oh God, it’s too much. Am tired. Am fed up! I can’t take it no more…please contend with those who contend with me…dear God engage them and defeat them…dear God come to my aid now….May I be reminded today and every other day that you are my salvation in all situations including this one! This is my prayer in Jesus name. Amen!
