It Gets Worse Before It Gets Better
Mark 9:25 “When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
(9:26) The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.””
Jesus came down from the Mount of transfiguration and he immediately met a case of a demon possessed boy who the disciples had been unable to heal. The father of the boy pleaded with Jesus to heal his son. In the above quoted text, Jesus orders the evil spirit to get out of the boy, and the boy gets healed!
However there is a lesson to learn from this healing of the demon possessed boy. When Jesus initiates the healing process, the situation gets worse before it gets better. The evil spirit before leaving the boy, violently shakes him and makes sharp deafening noise. At that moment the father of the boy must have wondered and almost regretted if it was the right thing to let Jesus command the evil spirit. The situation that was bad gets worse. Evening becomes deep darkness of late night. It gets worse before it gets better!
After the evil spirit leaves the boy, the onlookers conclude that the boy is dead! The evil spirit leaves the boy looking dead. Before healing, the boy had problems, but he didn’t look dead. The departure of the evil spirit was through a process that made a bad situation worse. After the evil spirit left, the worse situation was now worst. But the good news is that, it gets worse, then worst before it gets better!
What if the boy’s father had panicked and asked Jesus to stop the healing process that seemed to be getting worse than anticipated? Isn’t it easy to panic and give up, yet the desired healing is immediately after the worst experience? How bad is your experience? Be encouraged to hang in there because, it gets worse before it gets better.
Are you experiencing the worst moments in your life, in your studies, in your relationships, in your marriage, at your work place, in your health, and in whatever else? Be encouraged today, that the worst moments are followed by best relief and happiness. Never ever give up, it gets worse before it gets better!
*You get completely broke before financial recovery
*You get really lonely before a companion comes into your life
*You get into total conflict and disagreement before consensus is reached
*You fail and get embarrassed so miserably before you succeed
*You get disrespected and disparaged before you are respected
*You get into situations that make you doubt the existence of God before He comes in a big way and you become a testimony
*It gets worse before it gets better
In the biblical order, it gets worse before it gets better. Worse ushers in the best. We therefore don’t give up when dealing with the worst. Creation of a beautiful world was preceded by a dark, formless and void earth (Genesis 1:1-3). Job’s life got to its worst point before God granted a much better life (Job 42:10). In the Bible order after sin, it gets worse before it gets better. Jesus suffered and died but resurrection and a glorious kingdom come after (Hebrews 9:28). It gets worse before it gets better!
Psalm 30:5 “For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.”
What follows a night of weeping is a morning of Joy. It gets worse before it gets better. What night do you find yourself in? It gets worse before it gets better. Your joy will come in the morning. Don’t give up in the darkness you find yourself, morning will come, and joy comes in the morning! It gets worse before it gets better.
May God enable us to hang in there when its most tempting to give up. May God empower us to hang in there when it gets worse. May we never forget that it gets worse before it gets better. God bless us in Jesus name, amen!(c)email@example.com (do not delete any part of this post, including this.
