I Wish You Satisfaction, Enjoyment and Happiness!

I Wish You Satisfaction, Enjoyment and Happiness!

Ecclesiastes 2:24 “A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,
(2:25) for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?
(2:26) To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

To be satisfied with life, to enjoy life and to be happy should be the aim of life. This was and remains one of the wisest conclusions on the aim of life. This was a conclusion by the wisest man on earth. I wish you satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness!

1Kings 3:12 “I (God) will do what you (Solomon) have asked. I (God) will give you (Solomon) a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.”

1Kings 4:29God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.
(4:30) Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.
(4:31) He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite–wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.”

The wisest man who ever lived therefore is Solomon. One of his consistent conclusions about life is, find satisfaction, find enjoyment and be happy! I wish you satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness!

The wisest man’s treatise on wise and meaningful living is the book of Ecclesiastes. The following texts, in addition to our key text, will show the consistency Solomon put on the need to be satisfied, enjoy and find happiness in life. He also emphasises in the following texts that it can only be from God.

Ecclesiastes 3:12 “I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.
(3:13) That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil–this is the gift of God.”

Ecclesiastes 5:10 “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. (5:18)Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him–for this is his lot.
(5:19) Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his workthis is a gift of God.”

Ecclesiastes 6:2 “God gives a man wealth, possessions and honor, so that he lacks nothing his heart desires, but God does not enable him to enjoy them, and a stranger enjoys them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil. (6:3) A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he. (6:6) … even if he lives a thousand years twice over but fails to enjoy his prosperity. Do not all go to the same place?”

Ecclesiastes 8:15So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun.”

Ecclesiastes 9:7 “Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do.
(9:9) Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun–all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.”

Ecclesiastes 11:8However many years a man may live, let him enjoy them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything to come is meaningless.”

According to our key text today, and other texts quoted above, written by the wisest man that God made – Solomon, satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness can only come from God. Since satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness comes from God, Solomon concludes in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 that you are wise if you fear God and keep His commandments and make it your duty and when judgment comes you will be safe in God. In other words, relate well with God. Then God will grant you satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness!

What is money and wealth without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness? What is education and it’s glamorous honour and titles, without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness? What is power and leadership positions, without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness? What is success in business, in school, at work, without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness? What is relationship and marriage without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness? What is a good modern house without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness?

What is the best vehicle(s) and latest gadgets like phones, computers, without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness? What is time at the best holiday destination, without satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness? What is long life and good health free from cancer as some seem to eagerly pursue, yet you are not satisfied, nor enjoying and not happy? Only God, only God I repeat, can give satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness in anything and everything. I wish you satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness!

May God grant you satisfaction, enjoyment and happiness in anything and everything, in Jesus name. Amen! (C)rkesis@gmail.com (do not delete any part of this post, including this. You are free to share these posts but don’t edit the authorship or content… thank you and be blessed!)
