1 Samuel 30:6 “David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But *David found strength in the LORD* his God.”
David was the leader of a rag tag army. Disaster struck that affected everyone including David. The pain of loss distracted the affected. They chose to blame David even though he wasn’t to blame. They actually wanted to stone David to death. All leaders are still being blamed even today for things they are not responsible for. Those blaming leaders many times expose their own blindness. David sought even an ounce of support…even a faint whisper of encouragement from his lieutenants… but none was forthcoming. But David found strength in the LORD his God!
David found strength because he sought it. Those who seek it will discover its not available anywhere anyhow except in the LORD. We need to seek strength in order to find it. David found strength in God!
David found strength because it was available. You can’t find what doesn’t exist. That is why we never find strength in people, material things and abilities, because it doesn’t exist there. True reliable sustainable strength is only available in the LORD God! David found strength in the LORD his God!
David found strength because he was weak and needed strength. Those who are self sufficient will not need external help or strength. Those who don’t recognize or acknowledge their weakness, will not seek it. David realized he was weak and he sought strength. David found strength in the LORD his God!
David found strength and did not deplete the strength and it cannot be depleted. The strength is still available to anyone who seeks it. It was available to Hagar as she wandered in the desert. It was available to Joseph in slavery. It was available to Moses as he led a difficult people in the desert. It was available to Hannah in her barreness. It was available to Samuel the prophet when his family was rejected by people. The past people of faith did not deplete it…and when David sought it, he found it…we too can find it! David found strength in the LORD his God!
David found strength and therefore set an example of where we too can find strength. May you find strength in God today…when abandoned, rejected, frustrated, traumatized, facing failure, staring at losses, engulfed in shame and embarrassment, when anxious about health and devastating lab results… when no road ahead is all you see…when hopeless defines you best!
May you like David find strength today in the LORD your God in Jesus name. Amen!
