Go in the strength you have!
Judges 6:14 “The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
(6:15) “But Lord,” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
(6:16) The LORD answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together.””
When God chose Gideon to lead the Israelites’ liberation war against Midianites, He picked the most unlikely candidate for the assignment. Gideon came from a very weak clan and family, and even in the family he was the weakest. Gideon’s reputation and actual credentials for leading a battle were wanting and unacceptable. To take Gideon to war, leave alone leading in war was a recipe for total disaster. Yet God chose Gideon!God’s formula to Gideon is, go in the strength you have, I (God) will be with you!
God created Gideon like any and all of us. It is God who gave Gideon what seemed inadequate competence and resources in human eyes. God through Gideon demonstrates that what He gives us may look inadequate but with Him in the mix, it’s equal to the task and even more than enough. Go in the strength you have, I (God) will be with you!
Since what God gave Gideon looks inadequate, but is sufficient, let all the weak and disadvantaged people be encouraged. No man or woman should feel so inadequate that they depend and get enslaved by other fellow human beings whom they think are better off. God has demonstrated through Gideon that your weakness and inadequacy, combined with His presence, is equal to any challenge and even more than enough. Go in the strength you have, I (God) will be with you!
Gideon’s focus should not and should never be his weakness because it is real, but God’s presence or absence in his life which makes a whole difference. When we look within at our competence, we lose courage and won’t venture to win as God has purposed for us. Don’t look at your ability, just be concerned if God is with you or not. Any weakness and uselessness, combined with God is equal to any challenge and more than enough. Ensure God is with you. That is all! Ensure that God is with you. Go in the strength you have, I (God) will be with you!
Go in the strength you have. Go with your ugly face. Go with your shapeless body. Go with your lean frame. Go with your low grades. Go with your slow learning. Go with your zero years of experience. Go with you advanced age. Go with your sickly self. Go with you consistent failure. Go with your small amount of money. Go with your low paying job. Go with your few certificates. Go with your average and even below average performance, if it’s your best. Go with your generational curse if that is what you think is your weakness. Go with whatever it is, just ensure you go with God, it will be more than enough. Go in the strength you have, I (God) will be with you!
Thank you God for the strength I have. It may be small, inadequate and taunted, but I am grateful that you gave me and I know with you in me, it’s equal to all my challenges and more than enough. May this belief come true even today, in Jesus name. Amen! (C)firstname.lastname@example.org (do not delete any part of this post, including this.
