Fame Is Christian. How To Be Famous

Joshua 6:27 “So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame was in all the land.”

New International Version
So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.

New Living Translation
So the LORD was with Joshua, and his reputation spread throughout the land.

We need to depart from the kind of christian living that wrongly projects a believer’s life as boring, disinterested and unexciting. Christians are not hanging around bored only waiting for eternal life. Christians get involved in all aspects of daily life as they hope and pray for eternal life. Christians strive to excel in business, in studies, in sports, in everything as they use biblical methods and maintain faith in God. This entire life is God given and we must be fully faithful in this life in order to qualify for the next. Christians excel in everything and should be seen as happiest and successful people. Best dressed always and enjoying life to the fullest. Christians must be perceived as a happy and satisfied lot, as opposed to pitiable suffering lot who are clueless about life.

Fame is one of those things that satisfy a person and is sought at the top of Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Abraham Maslow gave us a theory represented by a triangle depicting needs that need to be satisfied as we move from the triangle wide base to the narrow top. At the bottom of the triangle are basic needs that need satisfaction, like food, clothing and shelter. Unless you satisfy the bottom needs, you cant proceed to meet higher needs. At the top of the triangle is self actualisation. Satisfaction at the top of the triangle is brought about by the sense of achievement. I submit to you that fame is good and is one of our needs at a very high level.

Fame is defined as being known for who you are and what you have done. Fame is a good reputation. Fame has to do with how people perceive you. Fame is positive. Fame based on good things you have done. When many people know you and recognise you because of your achievements and skills, then you are famous, and that is a good thing.

Going viral is spreading quickly particularly through social media. Going viral can be for good reasons or bad reasons. Going viral is short lived. Going viral should not necessarily be an aim of a christian. Fame and going viral are not the same things, though in some instances, the famous go viral for good or bad reasons.

Opposite of fame is disgrace, disrepute, shame, dishonour among many others. A christian should avoid these opposites of fame and instead seek fame. Fame supports the course of God. Fame is biblical, we need to learn how to be famous.

Joshua 6:27 “So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame was in all the land.”

Joshua took over leadership from Moses. Joshua was courageous. Joshua was experienced. Joshua faced challenges and overcame them. Joshua was an exemplary political, military and religious leader, all in one person. We all wish we were Joshua. We admire him as he plans the attack and conquer of the promised land, and we get amazed when he kneels to pray for divine intervention. Joshua takes risks to obey God, surrounded by enemies, he circumcises all men to meet God’s conditions, and this exposes Israel to possibility of enemy attack since the military men are still recuperating, but he takes the risk and God protects them. Joshua has faith in God and he believes marching around Jericho as God said will bring down the city, and it worked!

Reading about Joshua makes one wish that we were him. Trusting God like him. Taking God at His word regardless of how risky it is. Succeeding in leadership like him. Achieving a lot in a short time like him. Ending a career in retirement and total faith in God like Joshua. At the end of his life, Joshua tells the people to choose whom they will serve, but him and his house have chosen to serve the LORD God. Joshua wasn’t under peer pressure of being tempted to be like others and choose what others were choosing. Joshua had a made up mind, a great quality for any leader anywhere.

Joshua 6:27 “So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame was in all the land.”

Joshua was famous. Joshua was well known for excellence and success. Joshua was known for achievement. Joshua was known for faith and trust in God. Joshua was famous. Joshua was at the top league of best leaders. Joshua would make it to leader of the year, no, leader of the century. Joshua would be celebrated as best leader in military science, political science and religious circles. Joshua would be a discussion in social media and main press, and all for good reasons. Joshua was famous and the Bible has recorded that fact, to remind us that fame is good.

Joshua excelled not just in praying and weird behaviour that some try to project as christianity. Joshua excelled in faith and in daily living. A Christian must be admirable not just when they quote religious texts and pray, but also when they take up non-religious tasks. If you cant succeed anywhere else except in praying and religious matters, you are no good for the christian faith. Christian faith requires excellence in religious matters and all other matters of life. Fame comes from excelling all round. Daniel and his friends in the Bible were famous, not just for praying, but for academic excellence and remarkable leadership skills, over and above their unshakeable faith in God.

Joshua 6:27 “So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame was in all the land.”

How did Joshua become famous? The LORD God was with him. Without God you strive in vain. Without God, all efforts come to nothing. In al our efforts we need God. God brings excellence that causes fame.

May God grant us excellence that will bring us fame for His glory, in Jesus name, Amen!(c)rkesis@gmail.com (do not delete any part of this post, including this. You are free to share these posts but do not edit the authorship or content…thank you and be blessed!)
