Every Beautiful Garden Has A Forbidden Tree

Genesis 2:15 “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
(2:16) And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
(2:17) but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

It is a fact of life that every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree. A forbidden tree is one in which we have no Liberty to touch or eat from, we are safe keeping off. God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the most beautiful garden that can ever be imagined. One would do everything and anything to be here even for a moment. They paid nothing to be here. The instructions were simple, you are free in this garden, but avoid the forbidden tree.

When we read Genesis 3, they didn’t avoid the forbidden tree, and as a result, disaster came into their lives and they were expelled from the beautiful garden of Eden. Death came into their lives and our lives, because of tampering with the forbidden tree. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

Genesis 39:9 “(Joseph said to her) No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”

Joseph though a slave in Egypt, was privileged to work in the best job with lots of freedom. He was a slave and a Boss. He was fully trusted. He worked and and produced results. His boss Potiphar loved him. When Potiphar’s wife tried tempting Joseph for adultery, Joseph told her, this was a forbidden tree and he wouldn’t attempt it. Joseph though free and successful, was cautious about the forbidden tree. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

Malachi 3:9 You are under a curse –the whole nation of you–because you are robbing me.
(3:10) Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

In the beautiful garden of monies, God has placed a forbidden tree. Our freedom and happiness and prosperity depends on avoiding tampering with that forbidden tree. The forbidden tree is tithe and offering. Tithe is 10% of any and all of our gross profit or income, salary, pocket money, hand outs, etc. Tithe demonstrates our total obedience to God the giver of all wealth. Offering is an amount you choose to give from your income, to express your appreciation for God’s goodness, provisions and care in your life. In the beautiful garden of income we must give tithe and offerings in church during worship. To fail to give tithes and offerings, brings a curse in our entire life. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
(20:9) Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
(20:10) but the *seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God* . On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.”

In the beautiful garden of time of our lives God has placed a forbidden tree. Time is divided into many parts, including seven days making a week. God designed that out of every seven days, we shall work for six days, and on the Seventh-day, we desist from work and use it to worship God. Not any of the seven days, but particularly the Seventh-day.

The Seventh-day is Saturday, if you keenly follow the biblical events (Luke 23:50 – 24:5) surrounding when Jesus was crucified and buried (good Friday) and when Jesus resurrected (Sunday). The day in between is Saturday, biblically referred to as the Sabbath. The Sabbath belongs to God and there is no biblical evidence of it ever having changed to this day to another. Sunday as a civic day of rest was decreed by Roman Emperor Constantine in AD 321. Sunday as a day of worship was voted by the Catholic Church Council of Laodecia in AD336. No where in the Bible is Sunday or any other day approved as a day of worship. Saturday remains the biblical Sabbath. The Sabbath is a forbidden tree. You can’t choose your own Sabbath day and you can’t work on that day without offending God. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” In the beautiful garden of delicious foods, there too is a forbidden tree. Any food or drink that doesn’t glorify God is forbidden. Whatever is poisonous, or negatively affects health, or affects the mind from acting rationally, does not glorify God. We are free to eat and drink, but not to the detriment of our health, that is a forbidden tree. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

1 Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”” In the beautiful garden of friendship and socializing, there is freedom and also a forbidden tree. Bad friends, bad company, is a forbidden tree. Bad friends mislead not only children and youth but even adults. Some adults who were respectable church leaders, joined politics, changed friends and company, now they are drug abusers, drunkards, adulterers, Sabbath breakers, foul mouthed and unchristian in every way. Bad company affects everyone. Your company will affect your thinking and your actions. Bad company is a forbidden tree, in the garden of socialising and friendships. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.” In the beautiful garden of sexual freedom and enjoyment, there too is a forbidden tree. Sex outside and before marriage is a forbidden tree. Sex with same gender, or with animals and self pleasuring is a forbidden tree. To enjoy the beautiful garden of sex, we must avoid the forbidden tree. If for some reason you feel like you were naturally designed for the forbidden tree of same gender sex or you feel like straying into sexual activities before marriage or outside marriage, what you have is a spiritual problem. Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions found in spiritual communities. Get spiritual help and in the name of Jesus, you will be set free. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

Matthew 12:31 “And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
(12:32) Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.”

In the beautiful garden of Mercy and forgiveness of our sins, there is a forbidden tree. We can be forgiven any and all sins regardless of how grave they seem. However the sin against the Holy Spirit is a forbidden tree, it will never be forgiven. The sin against the Holy Spirit is not a particular act. The sin against the Holy Spirit is refusing to repent any of the sins you commit, however small. It is the Holy Spirit who points to us sins that we need to repent. Refusal to repent is sinning against the Holy Spirit. Any unrepented sin is sin against the Holy Spirit. Any unrepented sin will never be forgiven. Unrepented sin is a dangerous forbidden tree, it is sin against the Holy Spirit and cannot be forgiven. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

In the beautiful garden of our work places, schools, countries, families and relationships, we have a lot to enjoy, but also forbidden trees. We need to be familiar with the forbidden trees and avoid them in order to totally enjoy and explore our opportunities. Rules, regulations and laws point out the forbidden trees for our own good. In the beauty of our lives and experiences, let us enjoy, but also avoid tampering with the forbidden tree. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

Eve failed by listening to the evil one and tampering with the forbidden tree. Many jobs are lost because a worker tampered with forbidden trees. Many students fail and are send away from school because of tampering with the forbidden tree. Many marriages and relationships have become a pain in life and even disintegrated because someone tried the forbidden tree. Many have been in court, imprisoned and paid penalties because of trying the forbidden trees. Lives are lost and health broken and happiness becomes elusive because we tamper with forbidden trees. Every beautiful garden has a forbidden tree.

May God grant us wisdom and courage to identify and avoid all forbidden trees, and may happiness and success be our experience, in Jesus name. Amen! Wow! Never thought about it that way. One more forbidden fruit. The first fruits! All of them, including first born sons and first born male animals. They are God’s. Exodus 12,13. Proverbs 3:9
You as a living sacrifice – Romans 12:1-2. You are a forbidden fruit. Every thing you are, you have, are holy and separated unto the gospel of Jesus Christ. Every mint you have, tithe inclusive, every day you get, sabbath inclusive, every strength you have are God’s.
I give myself away, Lord, use me!
