Convenient Is Now!
Acts 24:25 “As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.””
Apostle Paul used his imprisonment as an opportunity to share the gospel in prison and during court hearing. When he was brought before Felix, he defended himself from the accusations that Jewish leaders had levelled against him. After defending himself, he went ahead to talk about his faith and what God demands from each and everyone of us. He talked about the need for everyone to be righteous, the need for everyone to have self control and he finally warned that divine universal judgment is coming and each one will be held responsible for how they respond to the demands of God. Felix was afraid because he knew he must make a decision to be part of Apostle Paul’s faith. Felix knew that this was the right thing to do. Felix was afraid that he knows the right thing, but he wasn’t ready to do it. As an excuse he decided that it wasn’t convenient now.
Acts 24:27 “When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favour to the Jews, he left Paul in prison.”
Two years passed and Felix never found it convenient to respond to the demands of God. After two years Felix had to leave as his assignment came to an end. The convenient time never came and he was taken away to another station of duty or retirement before finding a convenient time to respond to the demands of God. Felix like many us today did not know that the most convenient time for doing right and anything worth doing, is now.
Whenever convenient is not now for anyone, then we are creating an excuse from doing right. An excuse is a fake reason we give so that we can’t and won’t do what should be done now. The chief identifier of an excuse is when what should and must be done is not convenient for now. If you clearly know what you must do and you don’t find it convenient now, you are evading responsibility and on unsafe grounds. Convenient is always now or else its an excuse from doing God’s will and which offends God. Convenient is always now!
Felix took two more years and he never found a convenient time to make the decision he should have made that day. If convenient is not now, it will never be convenient. It gets harder to make any decision if we don’t make it now. If we can’t make the right decision now, there is a higher probability that we will never ever make it. Is there something we know we must and should do? If we don’t do it now, we may never ever do it, because convenient is always now or never. Convenient is now.
Acts 24:26 “At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.”
Felix took two more years and never made the decision. He postponed the decision making because he had a hidden motive to get a bribe from Apostle Paul. Hidden wrong motives always stand on the way of us making the right decision. Whenever now which should be convenient is not convenient, there must be an evil desire hidden and affecting our ability to decide. Sinful desire blurs our vision and makes now inconvenient for making the right decision. Felix was affected by fear first and then next by sinful desire for a bribe, therefore now which was divine convenient time was never convenient for him. Convenient time for any divine demand is always now unless we are entertaining evil desires to stand on the way between us and our good God. Convenient is always now!
It is convenient now to forgive the person who offended you most. It is convenient now to say that you are sorry. It is convenient now to get baptised or re-baptised. It is convenient now to quit that bad habit. It is convenient now to unfriend the misleading friends in your life. It is convenient now to leave that social media group. It is convenient now to go to the rehabilitation centre. It is convenient now to return to church. It is convenient now to start doing right. It is convenient now to set aside tithes and offerings that you have denied God. It is convenient now to change your wardrobe. It is convenient now to review your diet. It is convenient now to break the news to your adultery and fornication mate that you cant carry on beyond here. It is convenient now to start a life of prayer. It is convenient now to swallow your pride and acknowledge that the position you held in relation to church beliefs was wrong. Convenient is always now or never. Convenient is always now!
Convenient to share these posts is now. Convenient to spread the gospel is now. Convenient is always now or never. Convenient is always now!
May God give us wisdom to realise that convenient is now, and may He grant us power to do and decide what must be done now, and may blessings galore consequently flow our way today, in Jesus name, Amen!(c)email@example.com (do not delete any part of this post, including this.
