But The Eye Of Their God Was Watching

But The Eye Of Their God Was Watching

Ezra 5:5 “But the eye of their God was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.”

When Israelites started rebuilding the temple, neighboring tribes and nations were jealous and unhappy. They hatched a plan to stop the building of the temple in Jerusalem. They used threats and intimidation, but the building continued, because the eye of the God of Israel was watching His people. But the eye of their God was watching!

When a neighbouring man of authority wanted to stop the work, he needed answers to certain questions. As they waited for answers from King Darius, the building continued. While they thought they were waiting for answers, God actually was creating opportunity for the work to go on. While you think only one thing is happening, God is doing another thing in your favour behind the curtains. The process to get answers became long, because God was using that delay to progress His work. May God’s eye watch over us, and create opportunities of success for us, so that all long processes and delays work in our favour.

The Bible reveals that God has more than one eye (Habbakuk 1:13, Job 34:21, Proverbs 15:3, 1 Peter 3:12, and Genesis 6:8). Yet in this crisis facing Israelites, only one eye seems sufficient to resolve their issues. This is a reference to the mightiness of God vis a vis our problems. Israelites faced a big crisis to their lives and nationhood, but the eye (not eyes) of their God was watching!

I pray that the eye of God will watch over my life, my life in school, my life at work, my life in relationships and marriage, my life, my health, etc. May it be my testimony that, though troubles and hard times came my way, but the eye of God was watching over me and I never incurred losses, I never failed, I never lost hope. But the eye of their God was watching!

The eye of God watching over us creates security, peace, opportunities and fulfillment in life. They were threatened but the eye of their God was watching over them and they were never stopped and there was a delay in their favour. With the eye of God watching over us, may we never be stopped by those who wish to stop us. The eye of their God was watching!

Dear God in heaven, I too face threats and intimidation that affects my life. I face real risks… May your eye watch over me today and now, in Jesus name. Amen!
