2 Kings 13:23 “But the LORD was gracious to them and had compassion and showed concern for them *because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.* To this day he has been unwilling to destroy them or banish them from his presence.”
Israelites were descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God made a covenant (agreement) with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that He will be their God (protector, healer, savior, etc.) And they Israelites shall be His people (loyal to God only as opposed to other gods).
Long after Abraham, Isaac and Jacob died, God remained faithful to His covenant. When Israelites deserved punishment and death…God saved them, Because of His covenant.
Because of His covenant they had bumper harvest. Because of His covenant they won victories. Because of His covenant they got the good they did not deserve because they were sinners.
God has been renewing the same covenant over time. May be during baptism, child dedication, marriage, etc God made a covenant with you, or your parents and or guardians. May be once while in trouble you pleaded with God and He made the covenant with you.
Long after the covenant is forgotten, God remains faithful to His covenant. Because of His covenant He has protected you, saved you, healed you and brought you Victory, when you deserved none.
You can enter into a covenant with God even today while opportunity remains (it will not always be there). Because of His covenant we should stop sinning against Him.
Because of His covenant and not our goodness, will He save us.
May you have good and fruitful days ahead of you, Because of God’s gracious faithfulness to His covenant. Because of His covenant…God bless you!
